A simple sleeveless shift with a subtly swingy silhouette, the Lola is my ode to the perfect summer dress and was the first piece I designed while conceptualizing our Building Blocks collection.
I admittedly own many fitted and flouncy sundresses, all of which I love dearly, but after some serious wardrobe introspection, I realized that the dresses in my closet I wore the most during hot, sticky Arkansas summers (and now, hot, sticky NYC summers) were not my sundresses, but dresses just like the Lola: breezy, swingy, and sleeveless. With the Lola, I set out to design an essential dress for every summer occasion: from an outdoor summer hike styled with utilitarian sandals and a backpack to a semi-fancy evening with heels and statement jewelry. The airy double gauze and flowy silhouette keep you cool, the button-cinched keyhole adds an elegant touch, and the hidden pockets make the Lola perfect.
(Psst! We recently tweaked the design of this dress, and it now features subtle bust darts for an even better fit with no change to the overall silhouette. Note that the pics for the blue and black colorways are of the old version and don't show the darts.)

This dress is made of cotton double gauze from Japan. Composed of two layers of gauze that have been tacked together, double gauze is unbelievably soft and breathable. It is light and airy and one of those fabrics that, like linen, is wrinkle-prone, but that's part of what makes it so great — even the first time you wear it, double gauze feels soft and rumpled and worn in, and it only gets softer with repeated washes and wears.
Take a look at our Size Guide to find your size.
The Lola is relatively forgiving as far as size goes, but it is most fitted in the bust, so I recommend using that measurement to determine your size. If your measurements fall in between sizes, size up — the dress will be more comfortable and flowy that way!
