Story
... For me,
Perhaps I am not worthy, as you say,
Of work like this! ... perhaps a woman's soul
Aspires, and not creates! yet we aspire,
And yet I'll try out your perhapses, sir;
And if I fail ... why, burn me up my straw
Like other false works—I'll not ask for grace,
Your scorn is better, cousin Romney. I
Who love my art, would never wish it lower
To suit my stature. ...
– Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Aurora Leigh
Confident and powerful, Aurora pursues her passion with complete determination. I designed the Aurora Pants with a woman like Aurora Leigh in mind, a woman who is strong, kind, and doesn't let anyone tell her what she can and cannot do. A high waist and wide leg give the Aurora pants a sense of power, while soft front pleats and a fitted back add a dose of femininity.

Materials
These pants are made of ramie woven in Japan. A natural fiber deriving from a plant in the nettle family, ramie is one of the oldest known fibers used in the world and shares many characteristics with flax — both are coarse yet elegant, sturdy yet wrinkly, breathable and naturally anti-microbial — but is a bit more coarse and rustic. Ramie fabric has a similar roughness on the skin as linen does, so I wouldn't recommend it to those who have skin sensitivities to coarser fibers; however, for those who do not, ramie, like hemp or linen, gets softer and more lustrous each time you wash it. The color of the fabric is a rich, golden mustard brown, reminiscent of a bosc pear.
In addition to the fabric, these pants use cotton thread, a YKK zipper, two vintage mother of pearl buttons, cotton bias binding/pocket lining, cotton interfacing, and cotton garment labels.
Fit
Take a look at our Size Guide to find your size.
The Aurora Pants are fitted in the waist and the hips, so use both measurements when determining your size. This pant runs true to size; however, if you fall in between sizes, I recommend sizing up if you'd like a looser, more lower-slung pant and sizing down if you'd like a more fitted look.
Alyssa is wearing a size 4 and is 5'8" with a 35" bust, 27" waist, and 37" hip.
