Story

The Archer is one of the simplest designs in our FW16 collection, but that's what makes it so great. It is a classic miniskirt (AKA tights' best friend) that hits mid-thigh with a back zip and two almost-square pockets on the front. In my never-ending quest as a designer to add pockets to everything, finding a way to incorporate pockets on a miniskirt was tricky. Since the style hugs so closely to the body, most types of pockets would look bulgy (most likely the last thing you want to look like), but not patch pockets! So here it is: a deceptively simple miniskirt with big patch pockets that will go with just about anything in your closet: tees, sweaters, blouses, button-ups, you name it! (Although if I were to recommend a pairing, it would definitely be with our Hawthorn Top.)

Materials

This skirt is made out of 100% organic cotton twill milled in India. If you've ever worn jeans or pants before, you should be familiar with the comfort, simplicity, and characteristic diagonal weave of twill. The twill we source is GOTS-certified organic and is a midweight fabric (7 oz.) — heavy enough to keep you warm and covered, but not so heavy as to make you feel like you're being weighed down by your clothes.

This fabric is a true black. Being black, it of course pairs with everything, but you can't go wrong pairing it with either of our FW16 handloom fabrics, Ivory Plaid and Black Grid.

The skirt is lined with 100% organic cotton double gauze, produced in India, that I have hand-dyed a shade of dark grey using fiber-reactive dyes. It is unbelievably soft and breathable.

In addition to the fabric, this style uses 100% cotton thread, a YKK zipper, and organic cotton labels.

The Archer is fitted in the waist and hips, so use both your waist and hip measurements when determining your size. If you fall in between sizes, I recommend sizing down if you want a more body-hugging skirt that sits near your natural waist and sizing up if you want a looser skirt that sits closer to your hips.
